Citation Software News
February 1, 2005

Welcome to the February 1, 2005 issue of Citation Software News. We're covering the following topics in this issue:
  • Our new Lease-to-Own Program lets you lease variable-data-printing software starting at around $200 USD per month.

  • Macintosh plug-in developers are updating their software for Adobe Acrobat 7.0.

Lease-to-Own Program

If you've wanted to purchase variable-data-printing software but you've hesitated because of the cost, now's your chance to get access to best-in-class variable-data-printing solutions (also known as "personalized-printing solutions" or "one-to-one-communication solutions") for around $200 USD per month!

Citation Software Inc., in partnership with LeaseSource, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia, has announced a new "Lease-to-Own Program" that promises to make it easier than ever for businesses of all sizes to benefit from the leading-edge variable-data-printing solutions that are sold by Citation Software Inc.

As an authorized reseller for many leading software vendors, Citation offers a comprehensive portfolio of electronic-publishing solutions. For the Lease-to-Own Program, Citation is targeting three world-class variable-data-printing solutions: "DL-100," "DL-1000" and "PrintShop Mail." DL-100 allows the user to work from within Adobe Acrobat to design and produce variable-data documents. DL-1000 is a powerful, server-based variable-data-composition engine that a programmer can integrate into a production workflow. PrintShop Mail provides its own Graphical User Interface (GUI) for designing and producing variable-data documents. All three products are state-of-the-art software programs, and they are available for Macintosh computers and Windows computers.

Leasing costs for DL-100 begin at around $200 USD per month, leasing costs for DL-1000 begin at around $800 USD per month, and leasing costs for PrintShop Mail begin at around $200 USD per month. At the end of the lease period, you will own the software outright.

In addition to DL-100, DL-1000 and PrintShop mail, you can also lease other software solutions that are offered by Citation Software.

To make arrangements to lease a software solution, or to learn more about Citation's Lease-to-Own Program, call John Pfeifle at 508-436-2543, or send e-mail to John.Pfeifle@CitationSoftware.com.

Macintosh plug-in developers are updating their software for Adobe Acrobat 7.0

If you've been using Adobe Acrobat plug-ins on the Mac, you should be aware that your plug-in software will not work with Adobe Acrobat 7.0, which was released by Adobe Systems just a few weeks ago. Lori DeFurio, Developer Evangelist for Adobe Systems Incorporated, explains the reason for this. She says that Apple Computer has strongly recommended that all software development for the Mac be done using Apple's new "Mach-0" technology instead of Apple's older technology known as "PEF." Adobe has deemed it impractical to support both Mach-0 development and PEF development and so, starting with Adobe Acrobat 7.0, Adobe has moved Acrobat development to the Mach-0 technology.

Citation Software offers quite a few Acrobat plug-ins, and the developers for many of these plug-ins have already started working on new versions of their software for Acrobat 7.0 compatibility. One plug-in developer, Quite Software Ltd., has already released Acrobat 7.0-compliant beta versions of two products: Quite A Box Of Tricks and Quite Revealing. You can download this beta software free of charge from the Citation Software Inc. Web site. To do so, go to www.CitationSoftware.com and click "Downloads" on the menu at the left side of the page.
