Welcome to the May 28, 2009 issue
of our newsletter, "Citation Software News"!

We're offering an exciting new product! It's called "ONEticket," and it
provides a single interface for driving multiple digital-print devices.
ONEticket lets you create a single virtual job ticket from within Adobe Acrobat.
The virtual job ticket describes how a PDF document should be printed,
including information about imposition, page size, binding, tab sheets and cover sheets,
page numbers and Bates numbers, copies, paper stock, and more. When you print from
ONEticket, the virtual job ticket is converted into printer-specific commands.
To get more details, read the ONEticket article below.
Here's the complete list of topics on which we're focusing in this issue of our newsletter:

New ONEticket software creates virtual job tickets for PDF files
ONEticket is a software tool that provides a single interface for driving multiple
digital-print devices. It does this by allowing you to work from within Adobe Acrobat
to create a virtual job ticket describing how a PDF document should be printed.
The virtual job ticket can specify information about:
- page size
- binding
- tab sheets and cover sheets
- page numbers and Bates numbers
- copies
- paper stock
- simplex vs. duplex
- color vs. black & white
- imposition
- and more.
When you print from ONEticket, the virtual job ticket is converted into
printer-specific commands.
ONEticket runs on Windows computers. It works from within Adobe Acrobat, version 8 or higher.
ONEticket supports popular printers from Canon, Heidelberg, Hitachi, IBM, IKON, Kodak, Konica
Minolta, Océ, Ricoh, Toshiba, and Xerox.
Pricing
Our price for ONEticket is $2,300.00 USD.

Use PrintShop Mail to handle ZIP codes with leading zeroes
If you use PrintShop Mail to print documents that are sent to destinations in
the New England states in the US, you've probably bumped up against this annoying problem:
if your data file contains five-digit ZIP codes, your printed documents might end up with only four
digits instead of five. That's because the ZIP codes in the New England states begin with
the digit zero, and sometimes the zero gets dropped because the software views
the data as a number and considers the zero to be unnecessary.
There are things that you can do in Microsoft Excel to handle this problem — but if
you're in the habit of using Excel to manipulate your data, any fix-ups that you do in
Excel can be lost inadvertently.
To take care of this problem once and for all, use this quick-and-easy technique in PrintShop
Mail (this explanation assumes you're using the Windows version of PrintShop Mail):
Instead of using the name of your ZIP-code field as part of the address, create a new
variable. To create the new variable, you simply type the name of the variable inside a
variable-text box, preceded by the @ character and followed by
the @ character. For the variable, you can use any name you want.
In this example, we'll use ZipFix for the name of
the variable. Type the variable name in exactly the spot where you
want the ZIP code to appear. Once you've done this, the last line of your address block
would look something like this within PrintShop Mail:
@City@ @State@ @ZipFix@
Click the "Variables" tab in the lower-right corner of the PrintShop Mail
window; then right-click on the variable that you just created, and
choose "Edit Expression" from the pop-up menu. The "Edit Expression"
box will appear.
In the "Edit Expression" box, enter an expression like this:
IF(LEN([Zip]) < 5, "0" & [Zip], [Zip])
(This expression is based on the assumption that your ZIP codes are in a field
named Zip. Make the appropriate substitution to fit your situation.)
Click the "OK" button in the "Edit Expression" box.
Now, anytime PrintShop Mail encounters a ZIP code that has fewer than five digits,
it will add a zero at the beginning of the string of digits.
(PrintShop Mail is an easy-to-use, state-of-the-art,
WYSIWYG variable-data-printing solution that makes it
easy to add variable text, variable graphics, and bar codes to PDF files. You can
also use it independent of PDF files. To learn more about
it, go to www.CitationSoftware.com/SolutionFinder_VarDataPandP.htm#ATLS_PrintShopMail.)

Fun stuff!
QUESTION: How many lawyers does it
take to change a light bulb?
ANSWER: Such number as may be deemed
necessary to perform the stated task in a timely and
efficient manner within the strictures of the following agreement:
Whereas the party of the first part, also known as "the lawyers" and
the party of the second
part, also known as "the light bulb" do hereby agree to a transaction
wherein the party of the
second part shall be removed from the current position as a result of failure to perform
previously agreed upon duties, i.e. the lighting, elucidation, and otherwise illumination of
the area ranging from the front (North) door, through the entryway, terminating at an area just
through the primary living area, demarcated by the beginning of the carpet, any spillover
illumination being at the option of the party of the second part and not required by the
aforementioned agreement between the parties. The aforementioned removal transaction shall
include, but not be limited to, the following steps:
1. The party of the first part shall, with or without elevation at his option, by means of a
chair, step stool, ladder or any other means of elevation, grasp the party of the second part
and rotate the party of the second part in a counter-clockwise direction, said direction being
non-negotiable. Said grasping and rotation of the party of the second part shall be undertaken
by the party of the first part to maintain the structural integrity of the party of the second
part, notwithstanding the aforementioned failure of the party of the second part to perform the
customary and agreed upon duties. The foregoing notwithstanding, however, both parties
stipulate that structural failure of the party of the second part may be incidental to the
aforementioned failure to perform and in such case the party of the first part shall be held
blameless for such structural failure insofar as the non-negotiable directional codicil is
observed by the party of the first part throughout.
2. Upon reaching a point where the party of the second part becomes separated from the party of
the third part, also known as the "receptacle," the party of the first part shall have the
option of disposing of the party of the second part in a manner consistent with all applicable
state, local, and federal statutes.
3. Once separation and disposal have been achieved, the party of the first part shall have the
option of beginning the installation of the party of the fourth part, also known as "new light
bulb." This installation shall occur in a manner consistent with the reverse procedures
described in step one herein, being careful to note that the rotation should occur in a
clockwise direction, said direction also being non-negotiable and only until the party of the
fourth part becomes snug in the party of the third part and in fact becomes the party of the
second part.
Note: The above-described steps may be performed, at the option of the party of the first part,
by said party of the first part, or by his or her heirs and assigns, or by any and all persons
authorized by him or her, the objective being to produce a level of illumination in the
immediate vicinity of the aforementioned front (North) door consistent with maximization of
ingress and revenue for the party of the fifth part, also known as "The Firm."
