The AddressDoctor Parser structures addresses that have either correct or incorrect structure.
This can be extremely complex and difficult, especially when dealing with international
addresses. Errors often occur as users enter their information into forms. For
instance names entered in the address lines, province information put into
locality fields or just completely unstructured or inaccurate information is used.
The variety of possible abbreviations makes the task even more complex. The Parser
identifies address elements in completely unstructured or partly structured
addresses and distributes the elements into the correct fields. This is a
very important step before the actual validation takes place in order to
considerably increase the correction results.
Correctly identified address elements are especially important when addresses
are to be abbreviated to fit into fields with a maximum field width. The
abbreviation rules of the AddressDoctor standardization functionality ensure
no important information is lost. AddressDoctor thus allows you to:

"entry-level" software, because it isn't! At the heart of dedupeIT lies a sophisticated
matching engine with highly advanced fuzzy-matching capabilities

What is so special about "fuzzy matching"?
Duplicate records take many forms. A few will be exact matches, but many of the
duplicates will be phonetic, miskeyed, or abbreviated variations. Unless these appear
side-by-side in a database, the chances are you will never find them.

and "right fields" the data, moving names into name fields,
companies into company fields, etc.
RightFielder distinguishes between name fields, titles, departments, companies,
street addresses, cities, states, zip codes, and phone numbers.
The picture below shows a sample record from a "top justified" file. Notice that
SUITE 120 is below the primary address, ONTARIO is spelled out, and the
Postal Code is off on its own. To top it all off, somebody put
ATTN: SUSIE as the last address line!

In the record's output, RightFielder has moved SUSIE into the "Name" field and
SUITE 120 into the "Secondary address" line. With RightFielder you
have the option to keep your address lines as entered, put primary above secondary,
put secondary above primary, bottom justify, or top justify. It's all up to you!
Next, RightFielder went to work on the city/st/zip data. TORONTO and ONTARIO
have been parsed and ON given its proper abbreviation.
So in one fell swoop you've converted unorganized chaos into accurately fielded data.
