QUESTION: What is JLYT?
ANSWER: JLYT
(pronounced "J-layout") is a
print-optimization technology
that can be used for printing
variable-data documents on some types of
printers and digital presses made by Hewlett-Packard (HP) — most
notably the HP Indigo digital press.
The abbreviation JLT is sometimes used for this format
(instead of JLYT).
Like other print-optimization technologies, the JLYT
technology is based on the concept that the printer/RIP will
process the static information for a variable-data print run
only once, instead of processing the static information over and over,
once for each document in the print run. This allows the variable-data documents to print
faster than they would print if a print-optimization technology were not
in use.
