QUESTION: What is VIPP?
ANSWER: VIPP stands
for "Variable Data Intelligent PostScript Printware."
VIPP is a
page-description language (PDL)
that is designed especially for printing
variable-data documents.
VIPP, which was invented by Xerox Corporation, is based
on the PostScript
page-description language.
Some but not all Xerox printers can understand the VIPP language.
The VIPP language allows
variable-data-documents to be printed faster than they would
be if "regular" PostScript code were used to
describe the text and graphics.
Generating special code (such as VIPP) that speeds up the printing of
variable-data documents is known as print optimization.
