QUESTION: What is VIPP?

ANSWER: VIPP stands for "Variable Data Intelligent PostScript Printware." VIPP is a page-description language (PDL) that is designed especially for printing variable-data documents. VIPP, which was invented by Xerox Corporation, is based on the PostScript page-description language.

Some but not all Xerox printers can understand the VIPP language. The VIPP language allows variable-data-documents to be printed faster than they would be if "regular" PostScript code were used to describe the text and graphics.
