Swimming organization uses AddressObject software to cleanse data
APRIL 6, 2005 — USA Swimming (USAS) is the national governing body for U.S. swimmers and
clubs. The organization oversees a membership roster of about 300,000
athletes and non-athletes and 2,800 swim clubs nationwide.
To bolster its data-gathering and address-validation process,
USAS integrated the "AddressObject" software
into their new Web-based membership-management application.
Fifty-nine regional swimming committees use the Web-based application to
enter and maintain membership information. USAS uses the AddressObject
to validate addresses in real-time and/or in batches.
John Burbidge, USAS Information Technology Director, says that
USAS also uses the member address data to create mailing lists.
One major product USAS mails to its members is its bi-monthly publication,
called "Splash."
"Using validated addresses ensures that Splash will get delivered to our members
and reduces the cost associated with undeliverable mail," Burbidge says.
