the use of DPV software will be a must in 2007 when the
U.S. Postal Service changes its rules for CASS Certification —
more about this below.)
- DEAL #2 — Save $400 when you buy the MAILERS+4 Professional
software with the DPV add-on software. The regular cost for both
products is $2,140 — BUY THEM NOW AND GET THEM FOR ONLY $1,740.
- DEAL #3 - Save $500 when you buy any version of the
PrintShop Mail software
along with the MAILERS+4 Professional software
and DPV add-on software. EXAMPLE: The regular price for PrintShop Mail Starter Version
software plus MAILERS+4 Professional software plus DPV add-on software
is $3,135 — BUY ALL THREE PRODUCTS NOW AND GET THEM FOR ONLY $2635.
(NOTE: with this deal, you’ll also need to pay a small additional charge
for the annual maintenance & support fee for PrintShop Mail — don’t
hesitate to call us at 888-260-7316 for an exact price quote.)
Be sure to purchase as soon as possible, because we’re not sure how
long we’ll be able to offer these deals!
If the total cost of your order is $5000 or more, you’re eligible to
apply for our financing program, which is a time-payment
plan for software. Read about it at

What is the MAILERS+4 Professional software?
The MAILERS+4 Professional software is a Windows software product that
lets you standardize and validate the names
and addresses in a mailing list (also known as a a name-and-address database). Using
a database provided by the U.S. Postal Service, MAILERS+4 Professional helps you to
make sure that each of your addresses is in the correct format, that each of
your addresses matches reference information in the database provided by the
U.S. Postal Service, that each of
your addresses contains the right nine-digit Zip Code (also known as a
"Zip+4 Code"), and various other things.
This process of standardizing,
validating, and enhancing a list of addresses is known as "CASS processing."
CASS stands for "Coding Accuracy Support System," which is a
U.S. Postal Service term. Software that can do CASS processing (such as
the MAILERS+4 Professional software) is referred to as "CASS Certified software,"
because each company that develops software that is to be used for CASS processing
is required to have the software certified by the U.S. Postal Service to make sure
that the software does the CASS processing correctly.
Why would you want to do CASS processing?
There are various reasons to do CASS processing, but these are the two main reason that most
people do CASS processing: 1) the U.S. Postal Service will give you
discounts on postage when you're sending out a large batch of mail if
you process your mailing list with CASS Certified software before putting the
names and addresses on the things that you're mailing, 2) if you CASS-process
your mailing list, you'll cut down on the number of pieces that are returned
to you as "undeliverable" by the U.S. Postal Service.
We offer add-on software for MAILERS+4 Professional that
allows you to deal with Canadian addresses, too. If you'd like to
know more about this, contact us at 888-260-7316.
What is the DPV add-on software for MAILERS+4 Professional?
DPV is a U.S. Postal Service term that stands for "Delivery Point Validation." The DPV add-on
software works in conjunction with the MAILERS+4 Professional software
(that’s why it’s called "add-on" software), and it allows you
to take the process of cleaning up your mailing list one step further than
the procedure described above — because the DPV add-on software
actually validates each address as a confirmed delivery point by
checking to make sure that the address exists in the U.S. Postal Service's
national database of valid addresses. If you use the DPV add-on software,
you should get very little mail (or no mail) returned to you as "undeliverable"
because of
invalid addresses. The DPV add-on software catches problems such as missing
or invalid suite numbers and apartment numbers. Experts say that missing
or invalid suite numbers and apartment numbers are one of the biggest
reasons that mail can’t be delivered.
The U.S. Postal Service has said that Delivery Point Validation (DPV)
will become a must in 2007 for people that want to get the same kinds
of postage discounts that they are now entitled to when they use
CASS-certified software (such as MAILERS+4 Professional) to do
CASS processing. After the U.S. Postal Service’s rules change next year,
you’ll be REQUIRED to go through Delivery Point Validation (DPV) processing
to get the same discounts on postage that you can get by doing
CASS processing today.
DON’T WAIT UNTIL 2007 TO GET STARTED WITH DPV! If you do large mailings
often, and if you’re currently doing CASS processing for those mailings,
you shouldn’t wait until 2007 to start doing DPV processing! There
are several reasons:
- You can save $300 on the DPV add-on software if you buy now.
- You’ll increase your deliverability rate as soon as you start using
the DPV add-on.
- You’ll get accustomed to using the DPV add-on software before you
are forced to do it next year by the U.S. Postal Service.
What is the PrintShop Mail software?
Known as "variable-data-printing software," PrintShop Mail — which is
available for both Macintosh computers and Windows computers — lets
you create documents that are customized in various ways. In other words:
PrintShop Mail allows you to create a batch of documents that are similar
yet not identical.
You are probably familiar with the term "mail-merge," which refers to
a simple form of variable-data printing in which information in a database
is "merged" into a template. One of the most basic examples
of variable-data-printing is a mail-merge procedure that
puts a different name and address at the top of each letter in a
batch of letters. Many people are familiar with this concept.
But the PrintShop Mail software can go far beyond a simple mail-merge
situation — PrintShop Mail lets you put different text throughout
each document within a batch; it lets you put different pictures on
various documents within a batch, it lets you vary the positions of
the text and pictures on different documents within a batch,
it lets you print variable text on an angle, and much more.
There are many situations in which it makes sense to create batches of
documents that are tailored for the people that are going to be reading
the documents. One such situation is direct-mail advertising.
(The MAILERS+4 Professional software and the DPV add-on software are
in widespread use by companies that do direct-mail advertising — that
is why we are offering special low pricing when you buy the PrintShop Mail
software along with the MAILERS+4 Professional software and the DPV add-on software.)
Studies have shown that the response rate for direct-mail advertising can be
higher if you customize your direct-mail documents — compared to the
response rate that you’d get if you sent virtually identical documents to
all the recipients in your mailing list. Here is a simple example of a
situation in which it might make sense to create customized direct-mail documents.
Let’s say that you are the sales manager for a car dealership that sells Jeeps,
and let’s assume that you have available a list of people that have visited
the dealership or called the dealership to talk about buying a particular kind
of vehicle. We’ll assume that your list contains each person’s name and
address, and it also contains the model name of the type of vehicle that
each person is interested in.
In an effort to draw these people into a second discussion about possibly
buying a Jeep, you decide to send out a postcard to each person,
inviting him or her to visit the dealership on a particular Saturday for
a buffet breakfast and a free test drive. Well, you could just send out
a postcard containing the person’s name and address, along with the
details of the invitation. However, each of the people to whom you
are sending a postcard might be more likely to read the postcard carefully
if the postcard contained a picture of the model of Jeep that the
particular person has expressed interest in. And — if the salespeople
at your dealership have been diligent about collecting data — you
might be lucky enough to have additional information in your name-and-address
list that would allow you to do even more customization. For example, if
your database contains information about the preferred color of the vehicle
that each person is interested in, you could even make sure that color
of the Jeep that’s pictured on the postcard is the color that the
person prefers. So, Jane Smith might get a postcard with a picture of
a red Jeep Wrangler; Sam Atkins might get a postcard with a picture
of a black Jeep Liberty; Carl Smithfield might get a postcard with
a picture of a green Jeep Patriot, and so on.
If you think about it for a moment, you can probably envision how
a batch of customized postcards with pictures of different Jeep models
might bring in more people than a batch of postcards that are all the same
except for the name and address.
